Junior Achievement of Greater Fairfield County receives the third installment of a multi-year grant from the Valley Community Foundation and The Community Foundation for Greater New Haven

(Bridgeport, CT)- In September 2020, Junior Achievement of Greater Fairfield County received a $25,000 grant from the Valley Community Foundation as part of an $80,000 three-year grant that was awarded in 2018. The grant was awarded to support the implementation of the Life-Prep Initiative, which will provide the knowledge, tools and inspiration to help Ansonia and Derby students become better prepared for their futures.

Thanks to the generous support of the Valley Community Foundation and The Community Foundation for Greater New Haven, JAGFC continues to help Ansonia and Derby students, as well as the Valley as a whole, and has remained steady in its mission to inspire and prepare young people to succeed in a global economy. In the spring of 2020, as schools closed, JA pivoted to provide virtual programs and resources to continue to serve our community. Some of the events that were made virtual included a Virtual LinkedIn workshop with Microsoft and Derby High School, as well as a Virtual JA in a Day at Sunnyside Elementary School in Shelton. JA programs ensure that students are prepared to enter the workforce or pursue further education with the skills they need to succeed.

“Junior Achievement of Greater Fairfield County is grateful for the investment and partnership of the Valley Community Foundation and The Community Foundation for Greater New Haven,” said Bernadine Venditto, President of Junior Achievement of Greater Fairfield County. “With this support, we are able to provide vital programs to help Ansonia and Derby students build a brighter future for themselves and their community.”

This grant was made possible by the support of the Valley Community Foundation’s Donor Advised Funds, including Unrestricted, AGAPE Fund, Salvatore and Linda Tiano Coppola Family Fund, Paul & Gloria Konwerski Family Fund, Palazzi Family Fund, and Warichar Family Fund.

Throughout the 2020-2021 school year, JA of Greater Fairfield County will continue to bring innovative programs to area students and enhance their understanding of financial literacy, work and career readiness, and entrepreneurship concepts.
